Feeling sad and desolate I had wept
For the time had come to depart
The call of duty beckoned me
To a land farther over the sea.
How I wished that I knew
What fate had for me in the brew?
Resignedly thought against it nevertheless
For ignorance is sheer bliss.
Though I did curse my luck
As I had nowhere to look
In the most alien of lands
But, to reminisce my truest of friends.
They of the hearty kind
Prudent and sane in the mind
Crystal clear in their view
Although in numbers minutely few.
The count will never matter
I consoled my heart that was aflutter
Tho’ long and far you are away
Ne’er they nor you can forget even a day.
Hence, when I live to tell
The tale of a far away land I did dwell
Whenever I go down memory lane
Will recall my friends -the ever humane.
